AVEN KING (SHE/HER)
POLAR VOYAGER

I guess you could say I was destined to spend years in the polar regions. My first name was inspired by a rocky mountain wildflower (Alpine Aven) whose relative the Arctic Aven can be found all over the Arctic. Perhaps it was not ironic then that my favorite penguin turned out to be the King penguins of the Sub-Antarctic. To twilight zone it even further, the Alpine Aven (Geum rossii) was itself named after James Clark Ross the polar explorer. Add to that growing up raised by two Outward Bound instructors in the foothills of Colorado and I never stood a chance. I really didn’t come into my own until I moved out of landlocked Colorado. For years I thought I disliked the outdoors… when I just needed that sea and sky horizon siren song. Bring on the SCUBA, the swimming or the boat driving. Get me on, in, or under the water and my soul is happy. No surprise then that I eventually ended up in Washington state. A place that feels a bit like home with the mountains yet with the ocean at my backdoor. After spending almost half a decade adventuring and exploring the polar regions, I now work as a community manager for a consulting company. By day I am mild mannered Aven and by weekend and vacation time I go anywhere I can marvel at the world.

MEGAN MARGISON
WRITER AND STUNT MOTORCYCLIST

A love for motorcycles and a thirst for adventure are truly in Megan Margeson's DNA. Having grown up in a household where "family bonding" meant dirt bike riding and going for rides on her parents' choppers, it only makes sense that Megan would grow to share a passion for life on two-wheels. She and her parents ride thousands of miles together every year, all three on old-school choppers built by her father. "You learn to go with the flow on motorcycle trips, especially when you're riding old bikes. The mechanical issues, unpredictable weather, and route adjustments just add to the adventure. The fact that I get to share these experiences with my parents makes it that much more special." Megan is a marketing associate, writer, and professional stunt motorcyclist.

DUSTIN NERE

OUTDOOR ENTHUSIAST AND TRAVELER

The outdoors has always been a passion for Dustin, from hunting and fishing with his family as a kid, to hiking 14ers, backcountry skiing, mountain biking, and camping in the Rocky Mountains.  In recent years, he’s made traveling and being outdoors more of a priority.  Really, the first priority.  About 3 years ago Dustin left his 15 year career, sold his house and most of his belongings, and hit the road on his adventure bike.  After 2 years living on a motorcycle and sleeping mostly in a tent, he’s working on creating a sustainable lifestyle to keep travel, adventure, and the great outdoors a top priority.

AUDREY JEANE

TRAVELER WITH PURPOSE

I've been in love with photography and seeing the world since I was a kid on my grandparent's farm in Longmont Colorado. My grandmother let me play with her Polaroid camera and my love affair was instant. I have no formal training in photography minus a high school and college darkroom class. I've just had a passion to learn and keep learning. I have a degree in English from Lehigh University. It wasn't until after college and a 36 day trip to Europe that ignited my love affair with traveling the world. With that came my love affair with capturing the moments and sharing the lives of those I met along the way. Sharing those moments was, and still is, magical to me. Travel has changed my life and opened the world in a way that is both familiar and new. It has taught me patience, acceptance, and to live my life openhearted and non-judgmental. It has taught me to respect others and helped me realize deep gratitude toward all things living and dying. I have always pursued journies that feed my soul, challenge me mentally and physically, lift my spirit, connect me with the world and those in it. Travel and photography have taught me to live with purpose, travel with purpose, love with purpose, and love unconditionally. I hope, through my stories and photographs that it will ignite curiosity and fire in you to love yourself, the world, and those in it with the same passion and respect.

ANDREW SNUCINS

PHOTOJOURNALIST AND BUSHCRAFTER

Andrew has been an outdoorsman for as long as he can remember. A photojournalist by trade, his passion for classic cars and the open road are only matched by his love of the wild places. Between being an advocate for sustainable and ethical hunting, he balances his time between touring driving events around North America with his wife Samantha in their classic 1974 Austin 1000 for classiccaradventures.com and wandering the mountains of British Columbia with his giant canine companion Meelo, listening for the call of bull elk and chasing sunrises.

DARWIN LONGFELLOW

PRAIRIE DANCER

Darwin has been riding horses since she was knee high to a grasshopper, then translated that passion to motorcycles. She writes about backcountry misadventures on her personal blog, mostly detailing the things you SHOULDN'T do... if you wanna survive. Hey: if you ain't laughing, you're crying... and to be honest: there are a lot of times she's not laughing.

ALICIA MERRELL

AIMLESS WANDERER

“If you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll end up someplace else.”

The daughter of an Air Force veteran, I grew up moving every 1-5 years. This has caused me to get “itchy” if I don’t travel often or completely uplift my roots every few years. I’ve lived in eight states (Alaska is home), Turkey, and South Korea. I believe in traveling with the intent to learn or challenge myself, although I also enjoy the classic aimless wandering. Writing, reading, hiking, attempting to make people laugh, daydreaming, and people-watching calm me, while scuba diving, live sporting events, and watching K-dramas excite me. Talents including finding cool things in other people’s trash, and sweating while thinking about it. I currently live outside Seoul, South Korea with Alex and Nabi.
