On a wild hair Louisa, Charlie and I decided we didn’t have enough high altitude this week and to do more mountains while Louisa had some vacation left. We Picked Grays and Torreys Peaks, as both are Class 1 climbs (depending on the route), rated moderate, and a reasonable drive from the front range. Grays Peak clocks in at 14,278 Feet and Torreys Peak is at 14,267 Feet. These mountains share an approach trail and are connected by a saddle, so if you do the hike in, and you have the steam, most people do these peaks in one trip. We decided to do Grays and Torreys the traditional way. By that I mean waking up at 130am, driving 2 hours, and starting our 7.6 mile out and back climb at 430am.
